Friendly reminder…Dine to Donate-Pilot Pete’s 9/27

Dear Trinity Families & Faculty –

We invite you to join us for food, fun and fellowship at our first Trinity Dine To Donate event of the school year at Pilot Pete’s on Irving Park Road in Schaumburg. This event will be held on THURSDAY, September 27th, from 11am to 10pm. When you dine at Pilot Pete’s for either lunch or dinner, Pilot Pete’s will donate 20% of your pre-tax bill back to Trinity School. Take-out orders can also contribute towards fundraising as long as you mention “Trinity” at the time of ordering. Be sure to present the attached flyer to your server at the time of payment.

What are we working to raise money for?
This year all Dine to Donate earnings will go towards a Trinity Teachers fund in which the teacher will choose how they want to use their “Teacher Bucks” towards their classroom or classroom activities.

This week we studied Psalm 23, and what a perfect time of year to study that part of scripture.
23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his  j name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall  t dwell in the house of the LORD
Every time I hear these verses I am brought back to the Footprints in the Sand story. If you don’t know it here it is:
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you.”

Where are you in this time of your life? Are you walking with the Lord your Shepherd or is He carrying you?

The Elementary School Ministry took over the auction last year, and despite a few bumps, it was a very successful event.
We are starting to plan for the upcoming Auction March 10th, 2018. We are asking room parents to get more involved and looking for some OUT OF THE BOX thinkers to plan and put together this years auction.
We had originally set a meeting for tomorrow Nov. 14th, but are now feeling that it has not been advertised long enough to get a good group together. We would like to move the meeting to Tuesday Nov. 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the activity room.
Please let us know if you are interested and/or available. We need/want your input on what this years auction!!
THURSDAY, 11/16 & FRIDAY, 11/17
Our First thorough Fourth Grade Drama group will be performing School House Rock this week Thursday Nov 16th & Friday, Nov. 17th at 7 pm in the Heritage Center. Tickets are $5 each and are on sale in the lobby from 3:30 to 5:15 pm Monday – Friday. They will also be available at the door.
Please consider joining the Community Care team this winter in helping our neighbors who cannot shovel driveways on their own. Volunteers will be put in groups of 4 to “adopt” a home for the 2018/19 season. Snow blowers are available to borrow at Trinity.
What a wonderful way to serve together as a family, or students can be paired up with other adults to work in groups to ensure a timely response after a snow event. Sign up on the Volunteer Up website.

Trinity has applied again for evaluation by both National Lutheran School Accreditation and Advanced. The Thriving School Survey is provided for the third consecutive year to ensure optimum communication between staff, parents, and congregation. You have a critical role in making Trinity second to none.

We are asking all members of our congregation, staff, faculty and all school alumni and current families to please click the link below and complete the survey at your earliest convenience (you do not need to be a member of Trinity Church to complete this survey). The assessment will take 10-15 minutes to complete, and the information is submitted anonymously. The feedback you provide will be instrumental in planning efforts going forward. This assessment is being conducted by Baker Strategy Group, an independent research firm located in Ann Arbor, MI.

As in past years, you will be given multiple opportunities to discuss survey results with staff, make recommendations and review any adjustments to our strategic plans.
Accrediting agencies will require additional surveys in December and/or January. We spend a lot of time discussing your input and most often this results in changes. So, your opinion counts!
Thank you for your partnership and input. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
