The pastor’s children’s message included a riddle: “What has a bushy tail, eats nuts and climbs trees?” The children reflected momentarily and one of them responded, “It sounds like a squirrel, but it must be Jesus.”
Sometimes little children seem to be programmed to reply to every religious and devotional question with “Jesus.” Obviously, it’s not that simple. However, the message that we share with children and that we are blessed to celebrate in our own lives is always “Jesus.”
Jesus is God’s only answer to our sinful conditions and situations. When the questions are raised — “Where is forgiveness?” “Where is there eternal hope?” “Where is there a presence and power for every situation?” — the only answer is “Jesus.”
There are some aspects of our lives that pertain to our teaching and school service, but have little relevance for our family life or other personal contexts. Jesus is more than a school subject shared professionally or academically. Jesus is our personal Savior. Jesus is brought into our family, our social settings and every context of our lives. Jesus blesses every day in every context.
Jesus is the answer for the children in our school every day. During the day, we give many answers to children’s questions. To questions of doubts, hurts, sadness and disappointments, we have the privilege of sharing the answer, “Jesus.” (Taken from NLSW resources)

We will be welcoming national renowned author and speaker Jodee Blanco to work with us here at Trinity. She will be here the whole day, presenting to the different grade levels a plethora of information from her life as a bullied child.
She will spend time observing the culture here at Trinity, meeting with students who need someone to talk to, students who need advice concerning their role and how to move forward to create a positive change.
After school, she will be presenting a teacher workshop helping teachers to identify bullying, how to assist and intervene effectively, how to incorporate anti-bullying and other life lessons at school. She will present strategies and solutions for dealing with the difficult child and how to create enlightened forms of discipline that are “compassion-centric”.
In the evening (7p.m. in the Family Life Center), she will wrap up the day with a parent/child seminar. She will present warning signs for bullies and victims, and how to intervene and deal with other parents. Children are encouraged to come as she uses them to walk the parents through typical clichés adults use on bullied kids and why they don’t work.
The evening is open to our community, so if you have a friend or a neighbor that you think would be interested, please invite them to join us! We have flyers in the school office and at our front reception desk.
Her books include:
- Please Stop Laughing at Me..
- Please Stop Laughing at Us
- The Please Stop Laughing at Me Journal
- Bullied Kids Speak Out: We Survived, How You Can Too
